Summer Yoga in the Vineyard at Vines & Rushes Winery

Every Wednesday evening. June - August 2017.

5:30-6:30pm (yoga class)

Come for yoga, stay for wine! 

Gentle/Vinyasa flow-style yoga class followed by complimentary wine tasting and cash bar on Wednesday nights. Bring a friend! Class will be held outdoors near the grapevines! In the case of inclement weather, class will be moved indoors. Please arrive early as we expect a crowd for this popular ongoing summer series. Thank you for making this community yoga event a success! Please bring your own yoga mat.

Community pricing of $5 per class (Cash only please) Complimentary for auto-pay members and 3-month Summer Pass holders.

Class will be led by a rotation of Lotus Root Yoga teachers certified at Yoga Alliance's 200hr level. Yoga Alliance sets standards for high quality yoga instruction and encourages community enrichment through yoga. Vines & Rushes Winery offers delicious wines and ciders featuring fruits and cold-hardy grape varieties capable of surviving Wisconsin winters. NOTICE: Filming August 16th at Yoga in the Vineyard

ClearView Productions LLC of Oshkosh will be taking pictures, video and fly-over video with a drone (cool!) during the Wednesday, August 16 Yoga in the Vineyard. This is entirely weather dependent. The images will be used to highlight lifestyle options in our area.

Images will be taken discreetly (non-identifying) and all is being considered to ensure that equipment will not interfere with our yoga practice. See you there! Namaste.

Bovay's Kids -- Kid's Yoga! Friday, Aug 4th.

Children will embrace and contain their energy with a series of fun and relaxing yoga poses and techniques led by certified yoga instructor Jennifer Duffy of Lotus Root Yoga. For ages 5-12.

Marla recently completed her 200hr yoga teacher training and is excited to begin and share her passion for yoga practice. Marla's Vinyasa sequence is challenging yet restorative, fresh and inventive. She looks forward to connecting more students to yoga!

Marla Mockus discovered yoga during her first year of college when she moved to Santa Barbara, CA. The feeling yoga brought to every part of her was inspiring. The thought of using yoga to help transform people's lives was something that intrigued Marla, and she knew from the beginning that it was going to be something her life would hold a space for. Today you will find Marla practicing yoga constantly, not just in a physical sense but also by living a yogic lifestyle.

Marla completed her 200hr yoga teacher training in 2017 on a magical little island called Koh Phangan, in Thailand with instructor Johnny Nasello. Her training was an alignment-based vinyasa style course, which helped to lay down a solid foundation, and add to the depth of body awareness in poses. Marla enjoys a fluid, slow flow and the dance-like qualities of mindfully moving from pose to pose. Diving deeper into alignment-based yoga provided a better foundation for her to create sequences that will leave your body feeling worked but refreshed.

Marla believes yoga is not just a physical practice, but involves the mind and spirit as well. She will base her classes on the energy of the day by incorporating long holds, breath work, and deep stretching. She truly wants her classes to be accessible to all levels, but also to challenge the mind and body. By using props and modifications, she will ensure the best positions for each individual body. Any shape, size, or yogic ability will be sure to leave their mat ready for the day, walking on a yoga cloud!

Join Jamie Kozloski of Kingdom Animalia Exotic Animal Rescue in Green Bay (kaear.org) and her animal ambassadors including reptiles, amphibians, birds, small mammals and invertebrates. Jamie will bring four really cool rescue animals into the studio for an exciting and educational program. She will teach us about each animal’s extraordinary traits and the importance of researching exotics prior to adoption. Children are asked to be on their best behavior, quiet and respectful, to support a safe environment for the animals.

The live animal presentation will be followed by animal-themed kid’s yoga poses! Children will embrace and contain their energy with a series of fun and relaxing yoga poses led by certified yoga instructor Tracy Matthias.

Parents are asked to drop off participants 15 minutes prior to the start time and then return to the studio at the end of the session. Please escort your child into and out of the studio. All students at Lotus Root Yoga are required to sign a liability waiver. Parents will be asked to sign in for minor children. If you would like to attend the session with your child, please make arrangements with Lotus Root Yoga. This session will have limited capacity.

Take a closer look at the structure and movement potential of the shoulders and wrists, and learn movement and alignment strategies for both on and off the yoga mat to encourage the long-term health of these areas of the body. We’ll cover strategies for reducing shoulder and wrist injuries in yoga, and ways to optimize your yoga practice for increased shoulder and wrist strength and function. This workshop will consist of part anatomy/biomechanics lecture and part yoga practice. All levels of yoga practitioners are welcome!

Learn yoga and movement strategies for increasing the strength, health, and resiliency of your hips and spine in this all-levels workshop. Taught from a foundation of anatomy and biomechanics, we’ll take a closer look at how these areas of the body move and interrelate for an increased sense of embodiment and control. We’ll also cover some movement and alignment tips for both on and off the yoga mat that will encourage long-term tissue health and the possibility of pain reduction in these areas. This workshop will consist of part lecture and part yoga practice - feel free to bring a notebook to take notes!

JENNI RAWLINGS is a long-time yoga teacher with 1,000 hours of training in the fields of yoga, anatomy, and biomechanics. She is a certified Yoga Tune Up® teacher, Restorative Exercise Specialist, and Functional Range Conditioning Mobility Specialist. She writes regularly for Yoga International and for her own yoga anatomy-based website, and she has also released two yoga DVDs through Real Bodywork. Change your body! Change your mind! Elevate your practice and discover the transformative power of the traditional Ashtanga yoga sequence.

Detoxify the body, build strength, stamina and flexibility plus encourage a calmer mind. This active practice builds and evolves over time as you systematically work through blockages in the body and uncover layers of movement and awareness.

Ashtanga yoga cycles through lots of poses and is conducive to helpful hands-on assists from your instructor. This 5-week series will familiarize you with the basics of Ashtanga yoga including the Primary Series sequence, transitions, modifications and methodology.

The class also features Chi Gung style exercises which can be done seated or standing; coordinating breath and meditative movement. Yoga helps our bodies with flexibility, relieves stress and helps our mind with clarity without having to get onto the floor.

Gentle class for seniors, beginners, or those looking for inventive stretches that can be done from a chair. The class is done seated in a chair coordinating breath and meditative movement with Lotus Root Yoga instructor Jenni Borell E-RYT.

This is a great way to build a transformative fluid practice and tapas - a Sanskrit word that means heat or discipline - before summer.

New students and beginner yogis will learn the foundations of yoga including breathing practice, sun salutation alignment and essential poses that promote health, vitality, flexibility, stress-relief and body awareness. If you or someone you know has always wanted to try yoga, this low cost series is a great opportunity to dive in and explore the benefits! The series is designed for new adult students of all ages or athletic levels.

During Downtown Ripon's Art Walk. 

Karen Pujals of Soul Freqs Sound + Energy Works (Oshkosh) will present a sound immersion using gongs and other sacred sound instruments. This is a meditative, consciousness altering “lay out event”. Please bring a water bottle, a yoga mat to lay on, a blanket to cover up with, pillows or bolsters, eye covers, warm socks, and anything else that promotes a feeling a personal comfort and security. Props available in-studio.
